Chikhaldara

Chikhaldara is a hill station located in the Amravati district of Maharashtra, India, and sits at an altitude of 1118 m. The oldest mention of Chikhaldara can be found in the Mahabharata, in which is depicted as the site where Bheema executed the evil villain Keechaka, thus earning the name Keechakadara, which is the original form of the name today pronounced as Chikhaldara. There are several attractions for tourists of all inclinations and tastes to be found here, with an abundant wildlife that includes panthers, sambar, wild boar, and the Melghat Tiger project, currently caring for more than 80 tigers. Discovered by Captain Robinson of the Hyderabad Regiment in the year 1923, the landscape was first adorned under British patronage, and its exquisite beauty has only grown exponentially since.
