Ramakkalmedu

Ramakkalmedu is fabulous hill station and a village situated in the Idukki district in Kerala. The hill station lies at a distance of around 15 km from Nedumkandom along the Munnar-Thekkady route. It presents the spectacular view of surrounding villages and towns of Cumbum, Theni, Kombe, Thevaram, Uthamapalayam, Bodinaykannor and Vaiga of Tamil Nadu. Based on the folklore, the name of place Ramakkalmedu descends from 'Sree Rama,’ the Hindu mythological God. The hill station is peaceful refuge, away from the busiest city lifestyle. The climate is ideal for tourism all through the year.

How to reach

Ramakkalmedu is easy to reach through the road, railway and by air. The airports in Madurai (around 145 kms.), Kochi (around 165 kms.) and Trivandrum (220 kms.) provide fast connectivity. The nearest railhead located at Changanacherry (approximately 125 kms.) and Kottayam (with approximate distance of 140kms.), also adds connectivity to the place. The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses ply regularly to Ramakkalmedu.
