Palampur

Palampur is one of the most beautiful towns of Himachal Pradesh and one of the coolest places to live too. Situated at Kangra Valley at a height of 1220 meters above sea level, Palampur is famous among nature lovers for its scenic beauty of pine trees, green meadows and snow covered mountain peaks. Palampur got its name from the local word ‘Pulum’ which means abundance of water, which defines Palampur. In 1849, Dr. Jameson, Superintendent of Botanical Garden introduced a tea bush from Almora on this land and it survived yielding good results. Since then Palampur is known as the Tea Copunty of Himachal and is counted amongst the states having largest tea productions. Palampur offer many sport and adventure activities ranging like snow hiking, mount climbing, trekking, etc., thus the best time to visit Palampur is during winters.
