Kufri

Kufri is a hill station in the state of Himachal Pradesh, located on National High Way 22 approximately 12 km away from the state capital of Shimla. Kufri has a rich wildlife that includes rare felines, birds and antelopes protected by the Himalayan Wildlife Zoo. The British were the first to turn their attention to this otherwise relatively uncharted territory in 1819, after obtaining it from the Kingdom of Nepal. A relatively small hill station as compared to other popular ones in the state, Kufri derives its name from the word Kufr, which means lake. The best time to visit Kufri in the summer is the window between April and June, and the winter time span best suited for touristic exploration is between December and February.
