Chamba

Chamba is one of the oldest towns of Himachal Pradesh situated at the height of 996 meters above sea level and at the union of River Ravi and River Sal. Sharing boundaries with many states on almost all sides, Chamba offers a beautiful view of Pir Panjali hill. Historically, Chamba has been ruled by many kings of Maru Dynasty. Prior to Chamba, Bhamour was the capital of Maru Dynasty; however on the demand of Champavati, daughter of Raja Sahil Varman, the capital as shifted to Chamba in 920. The best time to visit Chamba Valley is during the months of March to June

This is a no holds barred town. Barely 9 hours from Delhi, it can be reached any time of the year and enjoyed to the fullest. With not so cold winters (compared to real hill stations) and not so warm summers, it is an idyllic hill station.

Chamba is best visited between the months of March to June for moderately hot weather and December to February if you prefer snow and don’t mind chilly weather. Summers in the valley of Chamba are warm, but not uncomfortably so. Chamba has very tolerable days and cool romantic nights.
