Barog

One of the most enthralling tourist places in Himachal Pradesh, at Barog one can feel the air of Scottish beauty and architechture. Barog’s history dates back to 1900s when an engineer, Colonel Barog, was designing a tunnel near the railway station. However since his calculations went wrong the construction of the tunnel could not be appropriate for which then British government charged him a Rupee 1 fine. He committed suicide in embarrassment and guilt and later the tunnel was completed by H.S. Harrigton. Today that tunnel stands one of the longest tunnels in the route of Shimla-Kalka. Over the period of time Barog has grown to be one of the most romantic places in Himachal Pradesh.
