Chamoli is one beautiful town; a prized possession of Garhwal Himalayas perched at an elevation of 1,300 meters and enhances Alaknanda River flowing nearby. This town offers the pristine views of nature, woods and rumbling creeks and serene atmosphere.

Chamoli is one such town which is utmost scenic and it combines natural beauty with spirituality. The almost unending temples dedicated to Lord Shiva have something to emphasize. Even the nearby Mana village has many temples. The flora & fauna is varied and rich and the experience inviting. Best Time to Visit

Chamoli is all year round destination which is comfortable in summers and not so cold in winters. Thanks to the mid altitude of 1,550 meters Chamoli is saved from extremes of all types. The maximum temperature averages at about 32 and the minimum around 14. Only the rainfall sometimes breaks records but otherwise it is a welcome hill station.

The two periods, November-March, and July-August are the best months to visit Chamoli, when this place experiences amazing weather.

Summers

The heat in summers seldom crosses 32 degrees and the minimum stays around 22 degrees during the summer and this makes it an ideal time to visit the place. Cotton clothes are recommended for the season.

Monsoons

The monsoon season lasts from July to September and considered a bad time to visit the town and rainfall is heavy in August. But those who relish the rains should definitely come and witness the downpour. The misty environs suit the romance oriented and can enjoy to the fullest. Raincoats and light woolens are recommended as the rains bring the mercury down considerably. Landslides sometimes block the roads and visitors should be prepared to stay a few extra days till the roads get cleared.

Winters

Chamoli’s winter lasts just two-three months from December to February. The minimum many a time drops to sub-zero levels and the maximum just a notch above 14 degrees. Heavy woolens are recommended during this season.

If visiting the Valley of Flowers, the best time to visit will be from July to August.
