Berinag

Berinag or the Cobra town is a beautiful hill station situated amid nature's paradise standing tall at an elevation of 2,050m in the Kumaoni Mountains in the Pithoragarh District of Uttarakhand. Scenic surroundings that include high snow covered peaks and beautiful valleys make Berinag stand out among other hill stations. The adjoining pine and oak forests add to the contrast and beautify the whole valley with the mystic odour emanating from them.

Well known for its snake temples which are aplenty and also the sprawling tea gardens. The tea produced here is of very high quality and it has carved a niche for itself. A highly revered and well-known Tripura Temple is just a 5 km drive at Uttarayan from here. It is dedicated to one of the several manifestations of Lord Vishnu. This hill station boasts of the superb Garhwal Himalayas like Nanda Devi, Trishul, Rajrambha and Panchchuli peaks offering breathtaking views.

The favourable climate, exotic sunrise and sunset viewpoints, scenic surroundings and high snow-capped peaks in the backdrop make Berinag a favourite tourist destination of all times. Since it is part of Kumaon tourism the local languages spoken are Kumaoni, Gadhwali and Hindi.
